The Hole - our inspiration

As soon as we see the titles of the film we can sense it is a horror because when you see them, you see them as if by a flashlight or flame. There is also a dark background behind the titles. Before you see the names and titles they are slightly blurred. There is intense music over the top of the titles which adds suspense and makes the audience think something bad is about the happen. There is also breathing over the top of the titles before you see the opening scene, also adding to the suspence.
Fast paced music is played throughout which adds suspense to the film.

The first shot we see is a point of view shot through some trees of a girl walking down a long, empty country road. The hair and makeup that is used on the girl also indicates to us that something bad has happened, and that we are looking at her after the majority of the film has taken place. She wears a coat, much too big for her (possibly a man's) and is only wearing socks.
For our final piece, we got a lot of inspiration from this film. We used a similar area to shoot our opening, but we also changed bits of it. Instead of having a school which the girl walks into at the end, we have a shot of her trying to get into some gates at a house.

Thursday

slasher horror

After researching into the genre horror, we have decided to follow the hybrid genre slasher horror with our final piece. We have looked at some films with the genre, including The Hole, and this has given us some inspiration on what to do. The start of The Hole is actually what happens right at the end of the film, and so it leaves the audience in suspense for a while.
